WHAT IS THIS PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION POLICY?

This CePED Privacy Policy (hereinafter “Personal Data Protection Policy”) aims to inform you of how the Center for Partnership and Expertise for Sustainable Development (hereinafter “CePED” or “We”) may process your personal data and on the rights granted to you. This personal data protection policy provides general information applicable in most situations and may be supplemented by more specific notices or regulations, where appropriate.

Personal data (hereinafter "personal data"): any information relating to an identified or identifiable person, in accordance with the Data Protection Digital Act (hereinafter "DPA").

This Privacy Policy was last updated on November 03, 2022. We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes to this personal data protection policy will be published on this page.

I - WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROCESSING OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA

CePED is a university-level center of excellence headquartered in Dangbo (Benin). We are responsible for the personal data we process at CePED. The processing of personal data is carried out within the framework of Law No. 2017-20 on the digital code in the Republic of Benin.
 

II - PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU AND FOR WHAT PURPOSES

The CePED mandate is to promote the cultural, social and economic development of Switzerland through the training of the new generation of high-level scientists and professionals and to develop research excellence for society and its economy. The CePED processes personal data in particular within the framework of its main academic missions which are education, research and innovation, and its support services. The legal basis for the processing of your personal data is mainly Law No. 2017-20 on the digital code in the Republic of Benin.

We may process different categories of personal data depending on your relationship with us.
 

III - THE KEY PRINCIPLES THAT GUIDE US

The CePED is required to respect the principles relating to data protection. In application of these principles, we will only process data:

• in a lawful, fair and transparent manner;
• for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes and then always in a manner compatible with these purposes subsequently; further processing for archiving purposes in the public interest, for scientific or historical research purposes or for statistical purposes that is not otherwise considered incompatible with the initial purposes;
• adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which they are processed;
• accurate;
• kept in a form allowing the identification of the persons concerned for a period not exceeding that necessary to achieve the purposes for which they are processed; personal data may be kept for a longer period of time insofar as they will be processed only for archiving purposes in the public interest, for scientific or historical research purposes or for statistical purposes, subject to the implementation of appropriate technical and organizational measures;
• processed in such a way as to ensure appropriate security of personal data.
   

IV - YOURS RIGHTS

You have the right to receive a copy of your personal data and you can request the correction of any personal data that is inaccurate or incomplete. You also have the right to object to the processing of your personal data for legitimate reasons and the right to object to the use of this data for prospecting purposes, in accordance with applicable laws. Where processing is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent prior to its withdrawal. The CePED reserves the right to refuse any request that is abusive or contrary to applicable laws. Finally, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.
 

V - SECURITY OF PERSONAL DATA
Security

CePED ensures the security of personal data by implementing enhanced data security through the use of security logic resources.
We deploy appropriate measures, both technologically and organizationally, to protect the stored personal data of our users against unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, unlawful or accidental destruction and accidental loss.
These measures comply with best practices and the latest regulations, taking into account the risks involved, to protect your personal data.
You are an actor in the protection of your personal data. There are simple but effective measures to ensure the confidentiality and security of your data.

Data retention

The CePED retains your personal data for a period not exceeding that necessary for the purposes for which they are processed, in accordance with the applicable legislation.
If anonymization is not possible due to the purpose of a research project, the personal data used in the context of the research may be stored for a maximum of 20 years.
 

VI - INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Your personal data is processed in Benin. In accordance with applicable laws, personal data may be transferred outside of Benin if the recipient State has an adequate level of personal data protection or if this level is accompanied by appropriate guarantees.
 

VII - WITH WHOM WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL DATA

• Your personal data is mainly processed by the central services of the CePED, but we may also share your personal data with certain suppliers or subcontractors acting on our behalf for operational or analytical reasons (for example, IT suppliers).
• We may also share your personal data with third parties and authorities when required by applicable laws and when necessary to defend our rights or to protect your vital interests or those of another person.
• To provide you with enhanced online services, we may integrate third party services such as streaming services (YouTube, Vimeo and SwitchTube) and social networks (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook). These service providers may collect and process personal data as data processors. We invite you to refer directly to the terms and privacy policies of these providers.
